The department was established in the academic session 1989–90,in accordance with the orders of the Higher Education Directorate, RegionalOffice, Bilaspur. Sinceits establishment, the department has been imparting quality education inGeography, covering major areas such as Physical Geography, Human Geography,Economic Geography, Environmental Geography, Remote Sensing and Regional Geography etc. The departmentaims to provide scientific understanding of natural and human environments andto develop analytical and spatial thinking among students.
