The Department of English at Government Rani Durgawati College,Wadrafnagar is a vital component of the college’s academic structure.Established in the academic session 2020–21, the department was founded to meetthe increasing demand for quality education in English Language and EnglishLiterature. Affiliated with Sant Gahira Guru University, Ambikapur, thedepartment offers an undergraduate program in English Literature (B.A) andEnglish Language under the framework of NEP 2020.
The curriculum is carefully designed to balancetheoretical concepts with fostering critical thinking, communication skills,and writing competence among students. In alignment with NEP 2020, the programemphasizes multidisciplinary learning, skill development, flexibility,creativity and ethical values. The department is committed to academicexcellence and prepares students for successful careers in the education,media, and corporate sector, as well as for higher education and research inemerging areas of content creation as well as of creative writing.
